About

With an innate passion for movement at a very young age, I grew into a nationally competitive dancer with over 15 years of experience. This appeared to be my life's path until I was diagnosed with scoliosis, which ultimately resulted in intensive surgery. With titanium rods permanently and rigidly in place, I could no longer see myself as the fluid, flexible dancer I had worked for years to become. This left me filled with self-pity, fear, and hopelessness. Faced with a decision to continue feeling sorry for myself, or search for another expressive outlet, I had stumbled upon yoga. It is funny how most of us seem to find yoga when we need it most, but that is exactly what happened to me. At first it was my means of exercise, but as my practice deepened I discovered the same sense of freedom and uplifting emotional release that I had felt with dance. It was the first time since my surgery that I had honestly felt beautiful, and I realized it was because of the appreciation I found in each and every moment of my life regardless of my past. It was then that yoga became an essential part of my being. Yoga is my practice of joyous, peaceful expression that keeps me in check with both my humanity and spirit. As a teacher, I create an open and welcoming space for my students to discover what yoga can offer them whether it is exercise, improved health, self awareness, or just a few moments to bliss out.
